Hiya, I'm a college kid who loves Asia and music. Therefore I am in love with Utada Hikaru. I've always had a thing for music but I tried to shut it off in my middle/highschool days because I didn't think it was worth putting effort into something that so many people fail miserably at. But in college I realized that music never leaves you once you've got it and so I shouldn't suppress it anymore. Now I'm on a journey to see what my music can do and I'm writing and producing music to see what my kind of song sounds like.
Why this name?
Well, basically I was like thinking that I needed somethin kool and it just came to me. Caleb Harvey. What a great name. It's so me.
Do you play live?
I play live for friends and family. It would be kool to play an actual show of some sort but since I'm a one man deal I would look really stupid sitting at a keyboard as it plays all my percussion and everything for me. So only if I had a band for my music would perform it live, or if I gave a piano solo show. That's how I perform for friends and family, just my voice and my piano.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Much better public access. With the internet, you're hearing music straight from the artist and not through the filter of the middle man.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Heck yeah I would. Then I could write to my heart's content with a purpose.
Band History:
I was in choir my junior year of highschool and few years of elementary I think. I do everything by ear, I know enough written music to pluck out notes and memorize a song if I decide it's worth it. So if I write any of my music on paper, I will either use software or have someone else do it who is very familiar with written music. I've been playing recently in a local band called "Half The Fight" in Kokomo, Indiana.
Your influences?
Utada Hikaru. She is my inspiration. I tend to focus more on pianos but I love rumbly bass and kool percussion, strings, and synths. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I'm going to do some electric guitar work soon on some pre-written songs of mine.
