With influences such as Slaughterhouse, Jay-Z, Eminem, and Kanye West, LockStarr's sound is mixture of message driven lyrics, word play and a distinct vocal delivery, over infectous beats ranging from Neo-Soul to Rock. Her first single Across the Sky from her highly anticipated EP which will be released late September 2010, has been featured on HipHopWired.com's Artist spotlight. Started rapping in freestyle ciphers in my old neighborhood. People were very supportive and always encouraged me to keep practicing. So I started to ink my thoughts down on paper. Recorded my first song in a studio setting when I moved to North Carolina and the rest is history.
I do perform where I live. I've performed at the Evening Muse, Spirit Square, just to name a few. I love to perform, but I'd prefer to do it in different cities than to just isolate myself to my living quarters. While performing at a car show, I jumped of stage...that was pretty dope.
I'm a big fan of lyracism so my influences are Slaughterhouse, Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Soul Kahn. In terms of composing the Neptunes and Kanye West are 2 of the biggest influences for me.
Fantom Keyboard, Reasons 4, Pro Tools.
