ZUBZUB is the creation of long-time Ozric Tentacles bass player, Zia Geelani. After more than ten years (1991-2002) of widespread touring, writing, recording and producing with the Ozrics, Zia now concentrates full-time on crafting distinctive dance tunes, where the emphasis is on infectious grooves and strong production.

The ZUBZUB sound incorporates an epic musical feel, fused with cleverly-programmed, deliciously-groovy dance rhythms and seamlessly blending an eclectic variety of styles and genres; Psytrance, drum and bass, strong techno, break-beats and dub are all covered and lavished with a psychedelic lushness. Also in the mix is a distinct taste for ethnic instruments and influence.

Two albums, “Zubzub” and “Malicious Code”, were quickly snapped up from small internet releases and their third album, The Powers That Beep, is due out on 25th July 2008 on Mesmobeat, the label of techno-legends, Eat Static. The band can also be found on “Soul Vibrations 2” the new chilled album from the prominent UK-label, Liquid Records.

Why this name?
It was Zia's nickname in the Ozrics.
Do you play live?
In keeping with the band members’ musical heritage, for the past few years ZUBZUB have been earning an awesome reputation on the live circuit, taking their 4-piece band on the road and hooking audiences with stomping tunes, brought even more alive with an organic, fluid fusion of live musicianship and programming.

Heavily featured and very popular with the UK festival scene, ZUBZUB have played at the likes of Glastonbury Festival, the Glade Festival (for an unprecedented 4 consecutive years!), Wickerman, Sunrise and Waveform Festivals and Life Festival in Ireland. ZUBZUB have also played at the famous Brixton Academy alongside some of the most well-known names in electronica and also have regular appearances with the best names in UK parties, including Tribe of Frog, Liquid Connective, The Little Green Planet and The Synergy Project.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Artists now have greater opportunity to reach a wider audience than ever before.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Haha - well, if that were to happen.....perhaps - would depend on the terms of the agreement.
