I'm Alex Newman. I sing play Acoustic Guitar and Piano in a band called Blue Door, but write alot of stuff on my own. I'm a fusion of folhy/Reggae Dispatch and PopROck Matchbox Twenty.

Do you play live?
I play on campus at SUNY Plattsburgh all the time in addition to some gigs downtown. My band has been hired for festivals, parties and hve played some coffee shops and bars.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet is great in letting people get ahold of new music fast in addition to allowing aspiring artists a proper venue for criticism. However, I feel many people take advantage of the internet and choose not to support the artists by purchasing their material.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If Bob Dylan, Rob Thoms, and Dave Matthews can than I think I will too.
Your influences?
Upon opening DARK SIDE OF THE MOON christmas of 2004 music began speaking to me. My appreciation of this album led me to delve into others classics like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan. THis being said, while these artists developed my appreciation of good music my biggest influences, as to who I sound like, are the piano ballads and catchy soul-wrenching lyrics of Rob Thomas and the acoustic funky flavor of Dispatch.
