The band is all me, Famous Patrick, with occassional help from my wife on bass and keys, or an assortment of friends, all of whom are more talented than myself.
Why this name?
The name I wanted is already being used, and this is a name that found me about 25 years ago. Another musician said, "Here comes the famous Patrick." Someone nearby said, "Can I just call you 'Famous?'" Pretty soon everyone was calling me "Famous Patrick," so I just rolled with it.
Do you play live?
Played live from the mid 60's until about 1995. Now I just play in my living room or for friends. I've played all over the northern Midwest, from the Mississippi to the Rockies, and down in Florida for about 7 years. For three years of that time, I was playing music, only, playing mostly Holiday Inn lounges in a two piece with my wife. My favorite place to play was Cody, Wyoming and Sebastian, Florida.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Levels the playing field, maybe not totally, but allows for people to become successful niche performers. The music business is really opening up now, with new, creative ways to distribute, promote, and make money with music. With a little luck, the Dinosaurs at the Major Labels will self destruct in the next decade, and open up a new wave of musical innovation.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't think the majors have anything to offer me that I would be interested in.

When I have time, I will try to put this in.

Anything else...?
Support from friends and other musicians is important, as well as encouragement in the form of magazines and podcasts. I especially like listening to the Home Made Hit Show, The Project Studio Network, and the Musician's Cooler. I also listen to fiction writing podcasts, because I think a lot of the same techniques apply. My favorite at the moment is "I Should Be Writing," with Mighty Mur Lafferty.
