Why this name?
Well my given name is Elias Calero, aint gonna tell ya the middle name. So I took E and S from Elias, C and O from Calero and made the name Esco, I'm the real Esco, I didnt rip it off Nas either!
Do you play live?
Workin on gettin shows so Holla!. I did a couple shows with my boy Ghost in past summers, we blazed the stage had people talkin. No special moments that I can say as of yet.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well its a catch 22, watever that means haha. Well the internet has pretty much led to the massive decline in cd sales, but it does give up and coming rappers a huge opportunity to network, and get their music heard my a lot of people. So the internet is good but at the same time bad for the music industry, album leaks and illegal downloads are killing cd sales so its a negative in that way. But Ringtones are gettin (established) rappers money. So theres pros and cons to it.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I really don't know. I mean theres a plus and negative side to that too. Like, all money that a record label fronts u, they gotta make back, if not then u gotta pay them back, so I'd rather sign a 50/50 deal or 60/40 split and front me 10 dollars! haha. Major Labels dun really let the artist be an artist, they tell u wat to do, and if not, then u get dropped pretty much. For an up and comin rapper i'd say its good to sign to get ur name put out to the masses, so I'd sign a deal if the contracts right.
