My music background is unusual. I grew up with mostly country and bluegrass playing in the house, folks like Bob Wills, Sons of the Pioneers, Bill Monroe, Flat & Scruggs, etc. I was still in elementary school the first time I heard Three Dog Night and numerous other rock bands. Into high school I was listening to groups the Eagles, Beach Boys, (I'm a Southern Californian originally!) Lynnyrd Skynnyrd, and Jim Croce. It was about this time that I became a christian. I started listening to Larry Norman, Don Francisco, Keith Green, and Petra. Over the years, I've stayed listening to Contemporary Christian Music, and much of the modern worship style heavily influences my songs, especially since most of my playing had been as a part of church worship teams.
Why this name?
My parents chose it for me!
Do you play live?
Churches mostly. Love playing live! My most special moment was singing at my own wedding to my wife ("I Could Never Promise You" by Don Francisco).
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It totally opened the industry to indies. Most of us could have never recorded or released songs without huge amounts of cash or a contract. Today, we can record and market a song in the same day! It also brings the music right to the listener.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't think so. I think for me it would be a bad idea.
Band History:
I'm a Contemporary Christian Music singer/songwriter/guitar player from San Antonio (originally from San Diego). I accepted Christ as my Savior at 14, and soon after taught myself to play guitar and bass. I was very active in my home church's worship team until I joined the United States Navy at 21. I am a veteran of Lebanon and Persian Gulf conflicts, Operation Desert Shield/Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Throughout my Navy career, I remained active in worship teams and songleading wherever God (and the Navy) planted me and my family. I retired from Active Duty after 24 years and began a singing/songwriting music outreach. My completed songs are registered through BMI.
