Welcome to the Essentials homepage. The Essentials are in the incubation process of being a band. We still need to find a permanent drummer. But the important stuff: Power trio, from Boston, heralding the second coming (of Rock'n'Roll!).
Why this name?
Since we are a power trio of guitar, bass, and drums, we decided that we are the essential components of Rock'n'Roll. Hence, The Essentials.
Do you play live?
Not yet, but we sure hope to.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet allows for mass distribution/dissemenation of music, and that is a great thing. Hopefully, the record industry and the demons that are the RIAA will fall to thier knees, and music will once again belong to the people, and not to the suits.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Having said all that, yes, of course we would join the 'other side', if given the chance. But we wouldn't stop fighting for what we believe in. Just fighting the system from the inside...
Band History:
The Essentials have existed in various forms since 1994. The lineup has largely consisted of Dave D., Greg L., and Raj M. We hope to have a much more intersting 'history' for you in the coming weeks...until then, the music speaks for itself (ourselves).
Your influences?
We love music that sounds good. That means Andrew Lloyd Weber's Jesus Christ Supserstar, Jimi Hendrix, The Jackson 5, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Dr. Dre, Phish, Weezer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ben Harper, Bob Marley, Prince, Ben Folds....we could go on forever, but hopefully you get the idea.
Favorite spot?
The Moon.

A lot of this stuff is just fluff, to be honest. I'm just trying to get some stuff down. The whole point of doing this is to get some songs on the web!
