Right now we're just doing home recordings and a formal band has not been created. We hope to eventually start performing live and the 'dream' would be to some day tour the U.S. with the gospel message via music. We are currently looking for a lead singer in the Central Arkansas area. Please contact Ken Halsted at kenneth@halstedhome.com if anyone is interested in auditioning for our band.

I've been on the worship team at church for many years. Helping to lead others in singing praises to God, is one of my passions. Writing to/for/about the Savior is another one. Music is something God has given to MANY people. I'm just one of millions who have decided to give it back to Him with all my ability.

I hope this music, more than anything, is inspirational, challenging and a blessing to you.
Why this name?
21st Century Psalmists is something I just came up with and will not be the band name. These are just a collection of songs I wrote under this title. Broken Sheep was the first name we came up with and we have a cd under this name. Halsted / Velte was the name of the 2nd cd band name.
Do you play live?
No live playing yet, but I hope to soon.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Changes everything for the better. More people get a shot at showing their art and that's a GOOD thing.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
IF I felt it were necessary to get the music out, but I don't think that's necessary or even desirable. FFH, for example, has decided not to re-sign with a label and I think that's the way I'd want to go. You have much more freedom to do what God desires, as opposed to what the label desires.
Band History:
Created two cd's so far. One called: 'Rhema' in 2006 by Broken Sheep, and in 2008, Mike Velte and myself (Ken Halsted) created a cd called 'Fight' under our names 'Halsted / Velte', available at: www.halstedhome.com/fight

I'm currently looking for a lead singer so that we can start performing live.
Favorite spot?
Central Arkansas
Equipment used:
toneport ux2 for recording, some behringer truesound monitors, intel duo core pc with vista, taylor 714ce, adobe audition 3.0, ozone 3 plugin, sonic maximizer plugin
