Kevin Paul Coughlan
I am a guitarist and songwriter and have been writing songs for a few years now. I have played in a few bands over the years but have never found an outlet for my own music playing live.
I have a fairly decent home studio using both cubase SX3 software and a boss BR1180-CD multitracker to record.
Although i am predominently a guitarist , i have also been teaching myself to play the piano,,, and both hardware and software synthesizers. My drum programming is dreadful and i will be working on that one very soon !
Now that i have my own home recording studio set up the way i want i have had to make the time to start getting my own songs arranged and recorded.
Its all been a huge learning curve and i am only just getting started.
All my songs are just rough demos and are nowhere near mastering or mixdown, but its a start.....
Each time i record a song i learn a little more from my previous mistakes, and in doing so, end up with a better recording,,,stick with me,,its hard work and very time consuming.
Considering i am holding down a full time job and look after my 4 yr old daughter 3 sometimes 4 days/nights a week, its a miracle i have managed to get anything onto soundclick ! !
Once i have gauged enough intrest from friends and relatives i will know which songs to get back to the drawing board with, and knock out a decent final version.....
I am delighted beyond words at the amount of page veiws and song plays i have received in my first month on soundclick.
I hope you like the songs here on my main artists page. I will hopefully be adding a new song every week or two,,so sign up as a fan and stay up to date with my new songs.
Besides,,, i need all the fans i can get,,,! !
If you want to download any particular track then click the " music " link on the left and you will then see a list of each of my songs. Click on " full song info " to open up the song and then click on the download song link to get the song onto your pcs hardive or music folder.
If you dont register with soundclick you wont be able to rate any songs or leave comments,,,,take a minute or two to register as a listener,,, become a fan and join the mailing list and i will be able to send out an automatic email every time i upload a new song,,,saves me lots of time texting and mailing people to let them know.
Alternatly,,send me an email by clicking on "contact artist "i would be delighted to hear your opinions or critisisms and will reply to all emails i receive.
These songs are all just demos and my desire is to get into a pro studio with a decent engineer to put me on the right track to getting a proper CD out there for everyones listening pleasure.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everone who has emailed me personaly thanking me for various songs of mine that have hit a nerve with them. This puts me in the very humble and priveledged position of being responsible for writing songs that mean so many different things to so many. If i have touched the heart of one single person, then this has all been very worthwhile and only spurs me on to get more songs recorded and uploaded onto my page. Thankyou.
Dont forget,,,these songs are only rough demos recorded in a small home studio,,,,i cant even begin to imagine what they would sound like if a proffessional studio engineer got their hands on them ! !
November 2008: I am inthe process of completly moving over to Cubase 4 software studio recording , from digital multitracking.
My first aim is to re-record my first 5 demo songs and produce them with a more professional touch, hopefully, with more clarity and a broader overall sound.
After they are re-recorded, i will then be recording my next 5 or 6 songs, again using cubase 4 software.
Its taken me a little while to build my new recording computer, and will take some time still, to re familiarise myself with software recording.
I hope to have started work on at least 2 of my old songs by new year, so am aiming for spring time to start recording some of my new material.
2008 has amazed me with the amount of song plays and downloads my 5 demo songs have acheived. I am hoping that 2009 will be even better and i cant wait to gauge the reaction to my new material.
Many, many thanks for listening.
Hope you enjoy my music, kev

Hey Kev--Really enjoying your stuff--better than demos, I say. Why not skip the whole producer/studio route & DYI? You've got what you need, man, and it sounds good to me.
