How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Millions of contacts right in front of you. Somoene who you would never have a chance to hear you can now because of the internet. Mp3's bad for the person getting the royalties, good for the artist for the exposure.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
don't sign with a major, sign with a mini-major that has distribution with one of the big four. They will take care of your career because of the intimate relationship they have with the artist.
