5th Dawn constantly strives to push the limits of brutality and creativity. Never content to be categorized, the band draws influence from many different style of metal. The band claims a wide variety of influences, such as Death, Nevermore, Pro-Pain, Behemoth, Meshuggah and Cynic.
Experimentation, challenge and execution are the driving forces behind our music. The debut album, "Evolving Toward Oblivion", is the beginning of our expression.
Why this name?
We had all been trying to come up with a name that wouldn't pigeon-hole us into one specific sound then our bassist, Sean, just came up with it one day. We all new it was perfect instantly.
Do you play live?
We play live any chance we get. We usually play in the Midwest Area and we love it!!! There have been a lot of special moments, but the one that sticks out in my mind is the time that we played and everybody stormed the stage! It was pretty amazing!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The Internet has put more control in the hands of the bands now. Record companies are having to rethink their position in the industry and change the way they do business. That can only be a good thing because it will lead to more FAIR dealings with artists.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If it was the right label.
Band History:
Juan and Chris met and started jamming in another band in October of 2005. After that band's demise, they recorded a demo and showed it to Juan's guitar instructor and shred-god, Tony Carducci. He soon joined the band along with bassist Sean Deppe (formerly of Skarred). Their hunt for a singer soon came to an end with the discovery of James McD (also of Civilized Anarchy fame). Tony left the band in 2008 due to time restraints and soon Derek Ahrens joined and added an extra dimension of brutality to the proceedings. With the band's mixture of thrash metal and elements of death and shred, they are ready to leave their own mark on the face of metal.
Your influences?
We have a wide variety of metal influences. Nevermore, Paul Gilbert, Jason Becker, Iron Maiden, Death, Pro-Pain, Hate Eternal, Decapitated, Immortal, Behemoth. This list could go on forever.
