play lo-fi play hi-fi  Let Our Children Lead The Way
I am a solo artiste and have been most of the time through the years. I no longer perform in public due to a lung disease. However, I do try and keep up with my composing skills and enjoy exercising my lungs through actively taking part in a karaoke site online. I have written quite a few songs in the past but I have only managed to produce one so far on cd.
Why this name?
My stage name in my younger years was Margaret Kelly, but decided to keep my real name at this stage in my life.
Do you play live?
I have occasionally performed in karaoke and tested a song out there once. It went down better than I expected, so really want to do more if I can.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Internet has already opened doors for me. I have shared one of my songs with so many people and sites and the fact that it is free or low costing helps a great deal.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I prefer the small companies or would if I got offered, the big labels make enough and are also control freaks with their artistes. They dictate what you should sing and how. Yuk!!
Band History:
Singing, music has always played a vital part of my life from a very early age. I always used to sing around the house from about the age of 4, 5, was always in every school choir. Joined a youth choir in a church I belonged to and yes, we got on "Songs Of Praise" LOL. I then performed in the clubs up and down the North West of England mainly. I emmegrated to South Africa for a few years and had the pleasure of performing on the same show as Paul Simon, Wayne Fantana, Eddie Calvert (don't think anyone will know who he is LOL ) . Came to Scotland in 1979 and formed a band called "My Generation". Found that it was harder finding gigs as most venues worked through agents, I hardly ever used them and still don't like them. LOL. I was diagnosed with COPD (Emphysema) in 2002 and thought my singing days were over. Came across a karoke site online where I sang and started to strengthen my voice again. I can do a fair job, even though I say so myself. I love the folk that use the site and have found some fantastic voices there. I hope to reproduce some of the songs I have written in the past and hopefully get them heard.
Your influences?
Country, folk, spiritual, ballads, more or less are the genre of my compositions.
Favorite spot?
Baapsfontein outside Johannesburg South Africa. Don't know if that still exists nowadays though, lol. Queens Clevleys, nr Blackpool - The Dolphin. That has probably gone too now, lol.
Equipment used:
I used to play rhythm guitar mainly when I was younger, but since diagnosed with the lung condition, I purchased a yamaha organ and taught myself enough to form backing tracks for my songs.
Anything else...?
I look forward to meeting people on soundclick and listening to artistes music.
