The Crazy Z's is a one-man-band that uses loop-based software (ACID Pro 4.0 and 5.0) to make songs anyone can groove to.
Why this name?
Started back in 6th grade when me and a couple friends were thinking of starting a band, and that name came up. I liked it, band never got anywhere, so here we are.
Do you play live?
Not yet, but I'm hoping to one day get a large band together to play the songs close to the original thing. I feel it will be awhile tho...
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's much easier to get music heard and out there. The problem, is that there are so many bands and artists out there, it takes a while to find one you like.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I've heard some bad stories about being on major labels (see the Clash and Cake). Probably not, because they are so demanding (get another single out right now), and it would most likely be for money. I make music because I like to, not because it can bring lots of money. Money is a plus, it's just that I will put my own health and friends' health before money. On selling out, I'd either sell my music to get money to go to a good cause, or I'd sell my music to something I approve of. My music is pretty dadaistic, so I'm not exactly ruining the meaning of the song by selling it for money.
Band History:
The first Z's song goes back to mid-2006. My dad showed me what to do and how to do it, and there's where Dark Forest of the Bards came from. There was the original song, then I decided to add more loops and samples until it was too full of things. I cut it back, and what is on the internet now is the latest version. The reason I first wanted to use ACID was because of Brad Sucks, and his songs up for remix.
After getting into Madness Combat, I thought to myself "hey, I can make music like that!" Therefore, Madness Mosh came about. I made Out of Bounds, made the first minute of Machina (finished over a year later), started a Trance Project, and made a song called Untitled 992029. I stopped for a couple months after that, made Rainy Day, then stopped for longer. After getting ACID Pro 5.0, I made Thoom, a song in which I no longer have the master track for (computer crash), and can't sell. I added a sample from an Arch Enemy song, and can't delete it, or sell the track until I obtain the rights. That song became Mato, which I don't like nearly as much. After I got my compy up and running again, I made Syzygy, an homage to the coolest character name in Unreal Tournament 2003. With Syzygy, I started to make more guitar-based songs (Funky Time, the WoG, Tin Mint, etc.), finished Machina and Untitled 992029 (In Actuality). The Trance Project became Footsteps, with the help of NIN's samples from Only.
After a somewhat-brief break, I leapt into action again, compiling No Debate, the Moon and the Ravine, Damn Right I Got the Beats (I was watching Buddy Guy on Crossroads), and the interludes Bassin' Around and Five Blackened Slopes.
