We are from Athens Ga. We take loads of influences from the post-punk movement and snip off whatever we like from everywhere else.
Why this name?
We chose Push! because no one much minded it and it was better than other names on the table. It also implied going against the local grain- but I don't and we didn't put much thought into that... Might change it before the record comes out given that there are a few with the same name...
Do you play live?
We have played live and often for the past two years. We are currently taking a break to re-format our live arrangement and finish the record. We will be back on stage as of May of this year.
Past glories have included the Team Clermont/ Go Bar Christmas party 2006 and a great Athfest show in 2007. We have an annual Halloween covers show which has included a super 80s set and an all cure set so far... We'll see about this year... We have played throughout the Southeast and naturally have hit the Athens hotspots- 40 Watt, Caledonia, Ga. Theatre and Go Bar among others locally and here there and everywhere out of Athens....

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Hopefully it will benefit the artists in the end...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If it wasn't a kamikaze deal for us... so... basically... uh... no, probably not likely- but open to ideas.
Band History:
Started by Lauren Osborne and Paul Nunn in 2005. Josiah McGaughey and Jeremy Sellers joined in 2006. Jeremy Sellers left the band as of January 08.
Your influences?
Um... we all like Doves, Echo and the Bunnymen and New Order- that kind of thing. But we all like other stuff too. Not overly retro- but a little retro. Very into guitars over synths- most often using them in place of synths. You can dance- you can sit and listen too.
Favorite spot?
That's a good question!
Equipment used:
Music Man, Gretcsh and Fender guitars. We did some tracks in studios on 2 inch reel to reel- but built our own studio during 2007 and are working exclusively from there now. The posted tracks are from the new studio. The studio includes various pres and mics, a Digi 003 and PT LE 7.4, Focusrite Liquid Mix and plug ins etc. We recently fell in love with Gearbox as a means of tracking and keeping things open for re-amping... Dbx compressors... Fender Amps on the guitars... Tons of pedals and such. We LOVE delay.
