Been around for longer than most people remember, and everyone still spells my name wrong! It's B-I-L! You name it, I've done it. and if I haven't then it's not my fault!!
Began as a DJ when I was knee-high to a grass-hopper and I've not grown much since.... so they tell me. Talk about being thrust into the limelight! At a club I used to go very regularly (circa '64), one night the DJ didn't turn up. So, as I was nearest the decks I got asked if I knew which were the best tunes and that's how it all started.
I've done other things too, before and since.. but that's how my big break came.

Why this name?
There are a number of stories linked to my name, and it's not the one about being lazy! So f*** off whoever put that one about!! The name came to me due to some work I used to be involved in. To keep from making errors and stop being blinded by a dirty great laser-beam, messages were kept short and understandable. Laser-beam coming my way was LASER BIL. Over time the gap disappeared, and Z looks better than S in flashy lettering, here I am... LAZERBIL (one 'L' please!)

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's taken several years for it to BEGIN happening, and it is. Music is more alive than it has been.... if you discount those silly and false so-called bands (really they are Vocal Groups). Band by its long-standing definition, as far as music is concerned, means musicians collective playing their own instruments.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Would I still sign...? Who wouldn't? This doesn't bother me one little bit. I'm in it for the enjoyment now. Long ago, I was a member of a band that... I hate this term... made it, to some extent.
Band History:
If I did the full history I'd still be writing it up centuries from now!!! Been there, seen it, done it, invented the postcard and licked the stamp!!
Recent history is still fairly lengthy to string together. I'm here for what it has always given me more than anything else, and that's enjoyment. Nowadays, I tend to take the (alternative word for 'water') out of myself.. and others who are far too serious for their own good!!

Your influences?
The first music I remember hearing was Blues, Jazz and Calypso. Not your ordinary common or garden upbringing ws it? From there I've listened to and enjoyed lots of different genre, and artists. Those who I admire range from Zappa to Lennon. McCartney to Gallagher. Music I listen to now is wide-ranging. From Trance to Drum'n'Bass. From Psychedelic to Death Metal. From Classical to Jazz. I listen to a lot of things that have something to offer and I can appreciate.
Favorite spot?
So many! Frankfurt is still high on my list. Portland (OR) has a place too.
Equipment used:
EEK!!! Equipment!! If I listed everything..... Guitars, Synths, Samplers, Drum Machines...... and now I'm using a laptop also. Nothing is ever discarded with me.
