I've played in numerous bands over the years, mostly rock and metal. I've been caught on a few occasions playing some country, but that never was my thing. I sing, play guitar and bass, and also drums. (My recordings don't have real drums on them because it's been years since I had a set.) I started singing when I was little. I started playing drums when I was about 16 or 17 and started seriously learning guitar when I was about 17. One problem I always had in nearly every band I was in was that I seemed to care a little too much how we sounded, so I always ended up offending somebody with constructive criticism. I guess that's why I'm sitting here at my computer now instead of touring clubs or arenas.
Why this name?
Kind of a no-brainer, since it's my name.
Do you play live?
Not at this time, unless you count when my brother and I rocked the family reunion a couple of years ago.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Let's not even go there.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably not, but it would depend on the circumstances.
Band History:
Fair Warning, Haff Badd, NDSKYZ, Fraction Bottom, Jonas Grumby, Blue Max, Ozone, Rock Junkies. There were several incarnations of some of these bands. They spanned from 1987 to 2007. In all, about 12 different bands.
Your influences?
I was greatly influenced by rock-blues legends such as Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, Tom Scholz, Slash, and Tony Iommi.
Favorite spot?
This isn't saying much because I really haven't been many places, but I'd have to say my favorite city I've spent any time in would be Columbia, SC.
Equipment used:
Cheap Stuff. Homemade Stuff. EBay Stuff. Everybody else's leftover stuff. I do have 3 very well made SX electric guitars.
Anything else...?
Due to limited resources at my disposal, the sound quality and production on these recordings is not up to par. Nearly all of them have drum tracks which were played on an old Yamaha keyboard. The drum track on Give It Up is actually one of the preset rhythms on an old Casio keyboard, but it worked. The best production is probably on the track Thunder In The Distance, which uses a drum track compiled with the program Reason Sound Jam. You also may notice that on some tracks, the vocals and lead guitar don't seem to be quite in synch with the music. This was due to an issue with the program Internet Tapedeck and the old slow ass computer I was recording on at the time. I hope with these shortcomings in mind, you will be able to take an objective listen to my music.
