We've been playing and singing since we were kids, and the music is always evolving. Lately we've been having a lot of fun learning some bluegrass tunes and expanding our musical talents by learning to play other instruments--mandolin, bass guitar, autoharp, and even the Puerto Rican Cuatro (a 10-stringed instrument). The music is a deep and meaningful part of our lives, but most of all we just have a lot of FUN playing!!
Why this name?
Ummmm......it's our names. :+)
(Although Jan plays in a bluegrass group, Rock Creek Crossing)
Do you play live?
Because of family committments, we don't travel or tour to promote our music. We mostly play in informal settings such as coffee houses, bluegrass jams, church & community events, and family get-togethers. The music is fun and it's a blessed part of our lives, but it's not our job or occupation. Any moment making music is a special one. Seeing others enjoying and being blessed by our songs is even more special!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
This medium has made it possible for us to produce a CD. Until now, this has always been a dream just out of our reach!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Well, sure!!! Line up, producers! :+)
Your influences?
"Jesus Music" from the late 60s--early 70s, folk, rock, R&B, country, bluegrass. Lots of nice acoustic stuff.
Favorite spot?
Far Northern California (and we don't mean the Bay Area--that's more in the middle of the state!). The beautiful Shasta-Cascade mountains and lakes.
Equipment used:
Epiphone and Ovation guitars, Washburn mando, Don Jose Cuatro, Black Mountain dulcimer, Behringer, LMI, Crate, Dean, Shure.
