Second Story is an all-original band from the Philadelphia area; wherein warm female vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and moving instrumental arrangements meld together to create a truly unique sound.

If you enjoy the music of Sarah McLachlan, Peter Gabriel, Paula Cole, Dave Matthews, Edie Brickell, King Crimson, Annie Haslam, Massive Attack, Enigma, Jonatha Brooke, Renaissance, or Grey Eye Glances, you may want to check us out -- we've been compared to all of them. (And we sincerely appreciate the comparisons.)
Why this name?
The band is the second major project from its founding members; thereby our "second story." Plus, the alliteration is nice and we don't have to spell it over the phone.
Do you play live?
We perform live several times a month. We've played at special events, clubs, bars, and colleges, as well as for television and radio.
If you make it big..?
Define "making it big." We're making music that makes us happy. Hopefully people can get off on that, and that is "making it big" in our eyes. Though it would be nice to do this for a living. Our intent is to have a long, memorable career - not be "the next big thing," only to fade out 6 months from now and never be heard from again.
Band History:
Together since 1996; current lineup since 1997. Second Story has performed at many well-known venues and festivals in the Philadelphia region. Now in its fourth year, the band actually goes back much farther; lifelong friends John, Scott and Mark have been writing and performing together since they were children. Nothing can hone a vocal blend like learning to sing together.
