The 60Hz Cartridge was formed on 1 July 2006 and is the brainchild of the eccentric, Princeton Prasad Pillay (Prince Prasad).

Although The 60Hz Cartridge is viewed as belonging to electro-dance genre of music, they do however, produce music of various genres (e.g. hip-hop, RnB, Electro-Klezmer, Electro-Carnatic, etc.)

Sprouting from experimental backgrounds, The 60Hz Cartridge has developed a theory of their own and arevery much independent in the perspectives they inherit. Their stress on identity however, does not affect their focus on delivering sounds common to the general public. They go along stream with popular artists like, Moby and Talvin Singh.

Hailing from Malaysia, these individuals have been through almost every stage in the production industry. For The 60Hz Cartridge, producing tracks on their laptop or desktop is as good as performing on stage in front of thousands of people. They claim that their work"is not just about programming the machine to play the sounds, it is about humanizing the tracks" to enable their listeners to identify themselves with what they are listenning to.

When asked about what their music is,

"States of the human mind," is the reply they give.

Today, The 60Hz Cartridge continues to move on in producing just about as many tracks asthey can in a day alongside projects with Nigerian rap artist, Malakarius of the R.E.P and budding Malaysian vocalists.
Why this name?
The name of the group came about from the obsession Prince Prasad had with the 60Hz (hum) tone, which is injected into most bassline tracks. The "cartridge" (meaning bullet) appended to the former is simply the groups manner of expressing the dynamic force the wish to convey to their audience.
Do you play live?
Yes, I guess you say I play live because most of my music is produced on campus grounds where I study. To be more specific, all composition and production activities are conducted in a computer and I have a deadline of three hours for each track I produce while other students surf the net.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I believe that the internet is THE present and the future of the music industry(if there will be one in the future). With rapid change and availability of technology, anyone can become an artist consequently, there will be an overload of artists, I presume. And that overload is going to make the music industry look like a stamp collectors haven or
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I am not sure about that, we'll have to see what they cater to and decide from there on. Very honestly, we're looking into the film industry. That is to say, we'd like to produce music for film.
