Our music is a combination of some great jam band stuff as well as relaxing acoustic music. We try to incorporate blues styles as well as rock styles in our music.
Why this name?
We were playing our first gig at a battle of the bands and they wanted a name. We thought for weeks and we finally ended up with Derailed, which evolved into D-railed.
Do you play live?
We play lots of local places (Terre Haute, IN). We recently played an acoustic tour of the St. Augustine area in Florida. We love playing live, it is such a thrill to see people singing lyrics to our original songs. The best things that has ever happened to us was at an outdoor concert. We put on a party every year and have bands play. The summer of 2003 was the best by far. We were playing to about 100 people, and were into our last song. Our lighting guy was controlling the lights and when we hit the last note of the last song, we jumped and the lights went out. When they came back on, we had fallen through the 4 foot stage all the way to the ground. It was probably the coolest thing i've ever been involved in in my whole life.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's awesome because it allows people to hear music that people have made. You don't have to be signed to a record deal to have your music out there.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes we would. It would get our music out further than we are now. It would also help us tour, which is our favorite part of what we do.
Band History:
We've played together since January of 2003. Our first full length CD came out in July of 2003. It's been awesome, and will continue to be awesome.
Your influences?
Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Tom Petty, Jimmy Buffet, Staind, Bush, Florida, and just plain grooving.
