Full-blooded viking born and raised in New England, BstMstR is a haphazard lyricist who cut his teeth as a performing artist in 2007.
Why this name?
According to the ancient Norse lore (like the power's of Thor passed down from the fjords).. In the late 20th Century, a 16 year old version of myself adopted "BeastMasteR" as a pseudonym for underground forums and message boards. I obviously share the name with characters from an 80's movie and fantasy video game; but as a kid playing soccer in my home town, a bunch of side-line parents used to call me an "animal" and a "beast" on the field. I put the cleats down for art school and started making music soon after that.. Eventually I dropped the vowels for the short-handed "BstMstR" and this haphazard alias turned into an artist "go by" for better or for worse.
Do you play live?
Yes, I cut my teeth as a performing artist in 2007. I've played all over New England, New York, and the Gathering of the Juggalos in Illinois. Special moments, besides that, include Mass Cann. Benefit ('08), Worcester Palladium Upstairs and Rock The Ink Festival in Providence, RI ('09).
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It affords artists larger audiences.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
In some dimension, yes.
