Clever, a unique and creative artist has been known to bring a feel good musical vibe to the Hip Hop game. Clever is a true trendsetter who has blazed his own path to critical acclaim. Possessing eye opening wordplay that is catching the ears of all whose listened to his music. This 23 year MC maybe unsigned but far from a amateur when it comes to displaying his crafty skills. Born and raised in the state of Virginia, Clever has always had a desire to rap because he feels as though rapping is a way for him to express himself through lyrics. A true 80's baby he was influenced by many artists in the early 90's from Jay-Z, Nas, Busta Rhymes, a Tribe Called Quest, Common, Canibus, Wu-Tang Clan, Kid n Play, Kriss Kross, Da Brat, and Bone Thug n Harmony just to name a few. During 2002 Clever finally realized hip hop music was something he really wanted to put his heart into and he started to believe his dream could be a reality. He began recording single after single but never stepped out on the limb to get much exposure and spread his name. After some re-evaluation Clever began to focus on school more than music and he eventually pursued his bachelor’s degree in business at Norfolk State University. Throughout his college career, he linked up with childhood friend Ballentine member of Decibel Beats and NetSwagger.com, who gave him an edge on completing an album. There were other colleagues he associated at school who gave him vital information about the music industry. With a supporting cast of family and friends and new fan base, Clever has taken an independent route and launched Makin It Happen Records. With a little more education, determination, confidence, and a killer swagger, Clever has finished up his first solo project entitled “Failure’s Not A Option,” which was locally released in the summer of 2007. This man is definitely not afraid of the limelight. He’s done many showcases from “The VA House of Comedy, Club Entourage, Granby Theater, Peppermint Beach Club, Club Royal Suites, Virginia Beach Oceanfront, and Clubs in Miami. He’s even appeared on All I Do is Rap Vol. 1 DVD, late show 34/7 to large crowds at the 2007 Howard University Homecoming.Songwriter, entertainer, producer, entrepreneur, and trendsetter are words to describe this incredible young man with a huge appetite for success. 2 up 2 down is the VA motto of Clever who is truly Makin It Happen….
