I first started playing the guitar in 1988 at age 23 and formed Nelson punk band "Dead Centre", which was to last for ten years. In 1997 I started recording my own songs, using a drum machine for the drums. I recorded three albums this way, up until 2003. Song topics range from sick humour to political, usually mixed. In 2001 I moved to Dunedin, and formed "The Pukes", a band which plays live versions of my recorded songs. In 2007 I started recording by using samples of The Pukes drum recordings, cut and pasted to make new songs, instead of the drum machine. I also perform songs solo, with the drum machine from time to time.
Why this name?
It's my name!
Do you play live?
I play live with my band (The Pukes) and I also play solo from time to time! Usually play in Dunedin or Christchurch!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it's great! Free exposure, free music and you can discover lots of great bands!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe, but I don't see any of them wanting me!
Band History:
I first started playing guitar and formed a band (Dead Centre) in 1988, which lasted for ten years. In 1997 I started recording and performing my own songs!
Your influences?
I grew up on 70's and 80's punk. I like bands such as Sex Pistols, 999, Dead Kennedys, G.B.H, Discharge, Subhumans, Bad Brains, Conflict, Crass, etc etc etc. Basically, I like most punk rock well enough!
Favorite spot?
Head, but I will smoke oil if that's all there is!
