play lo-fi play hi-fi  Grind 2 Shine - Dan Dyce, Dazzle D (Prod. By Dyce)
Dan Dyce has a passion for music that has lead him from behind the scenes to the mic. From a small city with a big name, Newburgh, N.Y. this producer/engineer turned rapper, has always been rapping, but never took it seriously.

"I been rapping since I was 15, me and some friends would always freestyle...the "REAL" way (where nothing is written before hand) and we would never take it seriously. It was a challenge to come up with some clever and new on the spot."

Dyce decided to take recording seriously in the winter of 2003 and ever since then he has evolving and maturing as an artist.

"I honest don't care if I am accepted into the game as a rapper, I rap because I love to make music. I produce and engineer for the same reasons, but I can see my self taken into the game for those reasons over rapping. Then again, I might find a artist I want to manage again and put my career on hold."

Dyce has a powerful voice and a swagg that leaves most people thinking he is not white. He says several times earlier in his career, his friends would let people hear his music then once they would meet him they couldn't believe he was white
Why this name?
I originally was tagged the name "iLL D" back when I started. But in early 2007, I decided to change it due to all the drama tied to it. I felt that I evolved from the kind of rapper I used to be and I needed a change. Dyce was the name of my D.J. business and I'm also a certified barber so the name has more than one meaning.

Do you play live?
Yea I play live, I have been preforming since 03. My 1st show was at the Chocolate Monkey in Bk, NY and since then I preformed at P.Diddy's Justin restaurant, Media Play, all local schools and open mics. But the ones im most proud of was in the summer of 06' when Dazz and I opened for Styles P and Mobb Deep...thats when I knew I've come far.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The Internet is the best thing to happen to an upcoming artist but possibly the worst for a big name artist, depending on how they use it. Its the cheapest way to network and the easiest way to collaborate with people all over the world. On the other hand its the easiest way to bootleg..a gift and a curse.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If it was right, If I had some artist creativity..and the price was right $$$
