REEP (THE GRIM BOSS) Biography
The artist officially known as Reep (The Grim Boss) was born in Trinidad in 1984. Living a life of poverty and strife; Reep moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1998, where he was taught how to survive in the inner city streets. The grimy and tainted cement of Brooklyn was opposite of the Trinidadian fresh water pools and attractive trees bent in linen crisp breezes. It was either kill or be killed, a mentality and code that still lives inside of Reep today. The next two years was his turning point, when he moved to Langley Park, Maryland and reunited with his cousin Dwayne “Street Team”. Hungry and determined, he used money as his motivation and preyed upon the streets as an open courtyard. Hustling on the daily, Reep at the tender age of 16 was a self-made legend-a young entrepreneur. As years of pain and greed progressed, Reep became more violent and out of control bringing the life of New York to Maryland.
One drunken night in 2001 his life was at a stand-still and lay with a cold calculated judge staring the risk of 60 years with 14 counts of conspiracy to armed robbery without bond in the eye. Unaided and left to die, the one person he despised the most became his best friend, his mother. Determined and enabled with perseverance, he perfected his craft, and began to focus on his dream; music. Reep after years of writing and lyrical insomnia, he signed to Bassline Music Group LLC in 2005, living the life as Reep (The Grim Boss).
