When Rock 'N' Roll blasted its way into the music scene in the 1950's, young men everywhere picked up guitars and formed rock bands.
Many such groups had specific ambitions of achieving stardom, fame and fortune, and indeed some did. Others were happy just to be taking part in the new goodtime music that was bursting with energy, fun and excitement.
Barry Brady was one of these young men who picked up a guitar, formed a band and welcomed Rock 'N' Roll with open arms.
Fame and fortune never came their way, mainly due to the fact they weren't really looking for it. However, one day during the mid 1960's, another young man, full of confidence and enthusiasm, introduced himself to the group armed with plans and schemes, hopes and dreams, and became their manager. Along with organising various appearances on popular TV shows, including Billy Thorpe's "It's All Happening", he secured the band a recording contract with EMI Records.
Then, destiny, stepped in, and, with an amicable parting, he ceased his managerial involvement to pursue an alternative career.
Barry's group "The Ramrods", continued playing the music they loved for many years, while their ex-manager went on to fulfill his own political plans, schemes, hopes and dreams.
Barry's first album as a singer/songwriter was released in 2005 and his roots in Rock 'N' Roll are clearly defined. "Spirit Of Rock 'N' Roll" also encompasses a wide variety of styles and moods, ranging from country to ballads to blues. Sounds that are easy on the ear, reminiscent of a time when music had a backbeat rhythm that grabbed at your soul, a tenor sax that ripped it apart, an 88 pumping over an old slap bass....Pure Rock 'N' Roll played straight from the heart.
