Frank Prophet is an individual and collective effort to make contemporary music using primitive roots as the starting point. Songs have three basic areas: 1. Love; 2. God; 3. Murder. We try to keep it that way.
Why this name?
By having the uncontrollable urge to play with words.
Do you play live?
Occasionally.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows artists to speak directly to an audience. Doesn't do much for getting paid, but it isn't as though being an indy musician has ever been a path to wealth.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
As long as they buy me a house in Mexico.
Band History:
This is the latest incarnation. The songs aren't finished yet.

Roscoe Holcomb, Dock Boggs, Charlie Poole, Blind Willie Johnson, Fred McDowell, Son House, Los Tigres del Norte, Hobart Smith, Talking Heads, Leonard Cohen, Woody Guthrie, Shane MacGowan & The Pogues, Sleepy John Estes, Dink Roberts, Clarence Tross, Doc Watson.
Favorite spot?
Lawrence, Santa Fe, Istanbul & Magdalena.

An old Master Tone, a Deering, classical & resonator guitars, Marine Band harmonicas, various percussion.
