Apostles

Griot and Megawatt have been writing, producing and performing together since 1998. They recently incorporated the band as a way to get more shows and to move away from sampling. Apostles now work very closely with two talented singers and a 5-piece band. After two strong years performing all over NYC and even in Australia, they have mixed their sound, “Grown Folks Hip Hop” with funk and rock to come up with the LP, MAKIN THE PEOPLE MOVE. The lead single, 'SHE ALWAYS CRIES,' is a testament to some of the pitfalls of being busy and having to leave someone special behind. The story of these hard-working musicians comes to life in a sexy, clever and funny Musical Short Story that is a part of their demo package. Just put the CD into your PC or Mac to access the video, a photo gallery, lyrics and more.
Do you play live?
We mostly play live in all five boroughs of NYC as well as Mass. But we have done gigs in PA, NJ, DC, Colorado, Cali and even 5 cities in Australia.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If it is a fair deal I would sign a record contract. The problem is most Record companies try to rape so-called "unproven" artists (basically if u ain't certified platinum yet, you're unproven).
Your influences?
The Roots, Common, Wu-Tang Clan, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, KRS-One, Richard Pryor, Paul Mooney, Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Dave Chapelle, Motown, Funk, Grown Folks Hip Hop.
