Top Spot
GSR is more than just a band, we're more like a family. Allot of people complain that rap is turning foul, that everything now sounds as if its one or two words being repeated a thousand times. Our goal is to bring a smooth yet at the same time hardcore annectdote back to the field. To bring hip hop back to its roots before all the killing, drug dealing etc. Not sayin you won't hear these things, because everyone has their struggle, but in GSR you will notice that our focus is to send a message in everything we do. Enjoy!
Why this name?
GSR, (Glass Shield Records), came from the movie The Glass Shield. Its a movie about a black man who became a cop and the crooked cops try and get him to frame a man. We named our record company Glass Shield to remember that no matted where we go, we'll keep our morals and do the right thing.
Do you play live?
We do a couple shows here and there. We book ocoording to how hot our music is at the time. If our music is low, we perform to get the heat back up. At the time we are extremely busy working, recording tracks, and selling instrumentals. Performing is the way to get your music heard and a way to have the fan base really get a feel for what you do, so you will see us in concert soon!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Uploading mp3 coded music is revolutionary. Now Joe Schmo from the basement in Meadville, PA has a voice that is playing over the digital world. It is now in his hands to market his own music, and now his future is the music biz is in his own hands.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the term are right, yes, but we like to do our own thing in our own environment. Allot of people get in big studios and forget that all the fancy gear, buttons, and knobs are so far from reach. We try to keep a mind like, we don't have nice cars with big rims, we don't have money in briefcases. Focusing on what we don't have opens up what we do have, and what we do have is genuinity. Something allot of people have, but lose.
