Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Been there...done that....twice......and as high as it gets you.....to then drop you 1 million times as fast/hard as it pcked you up.....i would do it all over again, 8 million times over.....and anyone who says different is just frontin. No matter what, a major label has everything you need as an artist/producer...everything. Will you get everything your promised....no! Will your expectations get met......as far as numbers and rewards....or freedom....? No! But if you expect the experience to be by the book then your prob the kinda dude who signs a deal without reading the contract first or having a lawyer do it(in which case you deserve to get screwed). But the bottom line....all it takes is 1 experience, 1 show in front of 15,000 people, 1 night on tour as an act with a major label deal, 1 session in hit factory....that makes it all worth it, everything before & after the deal....trust me.
Band History:
I was originally signed by Reverend Run of RUN-DMC while part of a rap group in Queens, NY. Duing that period we were signed to epic/sony records & rsmg/island def jam. I experienced more in 7 years then most people in the game for 30. I got to learn how to produce by Jam Master Jay....then, unfortunately....not long after....going to his private funeral/not the public one....and burying my friend before showing him how far I came along. I went on tour across the country, my group performed in coliseums in front of 15,000 people. I had a major single on rotation in various states across America, had a single under Sony distributed world wide.....watched and observed as my single being mixed & mastered at The Hit Factory(before it closed), to then appearing on the hit show Run's House and signing with Russell Simmons (Rsmg/Def Jam)....to then have it all dissappear and end for no apparent reason. From that point, I started myn own production company/indie label iLLFaTeD Entertainment. I started out on my own, using my own money and tools, with the connections i made while being signed(always make connections!). I started it with my partner Chris Classic who is also the single most talented recording artist this industry has ever seen....as well as my homie DeZ who is the other most talented rapper who's time is about to come. I've worked with Tone Kapone of Def Squad, Jay Waxx Garfield formally of bad boy and now Koch records, as well as a long list of other well known industry vets. I produce, manage, and do private a&r work for new artists and shop them to my connects at the majors....and i only deal with people who can sign on the spot. Although i never will touch a mic again, I will still produce until the day I die.....and between all of tye things i do....i will reach the majors again...at least 1 time...before i leave the industry again....but this time it will be under my terms and i will treat each moment of it like its the last moment of my life...and live it up right.
