Gary is an independent writer/artist originally from St. Petersburg, Fl. and now living in Nashville, TN. He and his wife Kim, own a songwriters cafe called Hobo Joe's
Do you play live?
Yes, at various writers clubs in the Nashville area, including my own. Nashville writers clubs are great places to interact with other writers and "test" out your material.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is a great tool for independent artists. It gives them an opportunity that the "industry" rarely affords. After all, it's all about the music!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I probably would.
Band History:
Started playing and writing at age 13 while living on an island in Alaska (military brat). Did the traditional high school rock band thing and later ended up as guitarist and vocalist for the USAF Band. After the USAF I performed as a solo artist for several years around the Gulf Beaches of Florida. I now reside in Nashville where I write, produce, pitch my material to the industry, and run Hobo Joe's Songwriters Cafe
Your influences?
Harlan Howard, Keith Whitley, Rivers Rutherford, Don Ellis, Hank Cochran............
