So I have been writing songs for some time now and have really become quite efficient in the art of songwriting even if I do say so myself.
I find the process to be like a religious experience, I sit down somewhere peaceful that breathes good vibrations and gently open my consciousness to the energy of the Cosmos. The thought process and poetical recollections of my mind are then met with a creative force that I guess one can only call inspiration. The more time I spend channeling, the more deeply I become involved in the writing of a song. Sometimes I find the channels blocked and struggle for the above process to happen. I generally smoke a joint at this stage and the inspiration awakens once more.
Once the song is born, I live with it and let it grow and develop in very much the same way a caring parents nurtures a child. When the time is right and depending on my finances, I then spend a further five or so days per song in the studio to try and capture the song in a justified manner. At this stage I am usually joined by some of musical friends and with their love and attention, the song takes on a life of itself and becomes immortal via the recording process.
Having given birth to a song, nurtured it and captured it as a record, my job then is to perform the song as skillfully as possible in live venues, trying to capture the publics imagination and hopefully after all this effort Iwill be able to sell it for about fifty pence.

Why this name?
After a long time of trying to find myself and finding different identities , the only name I could possibly use is the name I was given at birth. Some of my friends call me by different names but in my heart I am simply darren fisher.
Do you play live?
Of course I play live. Of course I like it. A great gig is better than sex. I have some very special and intimate moments as a performer, sometimes on my own, sometimes with a band. All of them have been that magical moment, when music has picked me up and the performance becomes effortless. The intimacy of the crowds piercing yet loving eyes and the knowledge that this magic is like a religious experience but without the bullshit.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well mp3's are not really comparable to CD quality. It is a compressed format and therefore the quality of the musical sound is inferior and it is a shame that after months of meticulous recording by everyone involved in a recording session, songs are then compressed to an mp3 which if compared to the sound of the record in the studio is obviously not such a high standard. As more and more people download individual songs, less and less listen to albums in their entirety which I feel is a shame because a good album should tell an entire story from start to finish. A good recording artist will dedicate a long time in developing the running order of a record, thus giving a start, middle and end.
However, despite the negative aspects, it is also a good thing for an artist to have mp3's available on the net. It is a way to get one's music to a worldwide audience without having to be signed to a record label and therefore have one's career in one's own hands. Of course that also means that the download market is over saturated with very mediocre downloads and can make it difficult to find the quality recordings.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If I could guarantee my sound would not be commercialised. Majors have the means to make your biggest dreams come true but on the flip side, your truth into a dream.
Band History:
Darren Fisher, arrived on this planet appropriately in near proximity to Glastonbury. From as early as he can remember he has been surrounded by rock and roll. His father was also a passionate musician and bohemian, as were most of his friends.
Darren's music is pure and true to his existence and experiences. Like Dylan, he is a poet of uncompromising truth. His lyrics take you on his continual journey, a journey that through his music, is depicted with a heart that is pure and open to all.
His forthcoming debut album "Feathers And Oak Trees" is the perfect introduction to this great talent. A singer songwriter and guitarist, whose vocal style is passionate and easily produced. His guitar playing is technical, yet flows with utter ease from his hands. He is ultimately: a real Artist and Poet.
So if it is a true artist that you seek, Darren Fisher is your man
