Tyrfing is the solo project of me, Nicholas DiLuzio. It is an outlet for my thoughts and melodies, visions and nightmares. I don't care about getting signed to major labels or not making hit singles. I care about creating, recording, and delivering my music to whoever wants to listen to it.
Why this name?
I just enjoy the legend and curse of Tyrfing. I'll let Wikipedia explain:

"Tyrfing or Tirfing was a magic sword which figures in a poem from the Elder Edda called The Waking of Angantýr, and in Hervarar saga. The name is also used in the saga to denote the Goths and the form Tervingi was actually recorded by Roman sources in the 4th century.

Svafrlami was the king of Gardariki, and Odin's grandson. He managed to trap the Dwarves Dvalinn and Durin when they had left the rock where they dwelt. Then he forced them to forge a sword with a golden hilt that would never miss a stroke, would never rust and would cut through stone and iron as easily as through clothes.

The Dwarves made the sword, and it shone and gleamed like fire. However, in revenge they cursed it so that it would kill a man every time it was drawn and that it would be the cause of three great evils. They finally cursed it so that it would also kill Svafrlami himself,"

The tale is much longer than that, but you get the idea. No real relation to the music though :P
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has helped me get my music out there quickly, and has exposed me to so many fantastic artists.

On the topic of actual file-sharing, I believe it only spreads the music, damaging the music industry very little. Hell, we've been sharing music long before sh*** like Napster or Kazaa or BitTorrent. Audio cassettes anybody?
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'm quite indifferent about that at the moment.
Band History:
I'm goin' third-person here, k?

Tyrfing began in early 2007. It has always been a solo project, and will remain a solo project. Tyrfing (along with DiLuzio's other project, Red Future) will be terminated by 2009.

The first song ever recorded was called Red Child (which would eventually become Raging Thunder) back in spring of '07. It was originally going to be released with 3 other songs (The Envious Soul, Tyrfing, and Lost in the Desert) on a demo CD titled "Journey to the West". Unfortunately, a creative block had hit DiLuzio after the final touches were put on Red Child, and the demo was put on hold.

However, in the summer a different version of Red Child was recorded, which prompted DiLuzio to record The Envious Soul and Tyrfing. Lost in the Desert was replaced by an original piano composition titled "Sleepless Moon". With a change in the album title and production, and the subsequent creation of Agantyr Records, the Tyrfing EP was released in August.

Currently, another EP and an album are in the works. The EP (which will be out by the end of this year) is going to be titled "Just in Time", and will feature the strangest and most complex of DiLuzio's compositions thus far.

The album (currently titled "Flagship of the Storm") will be released in early 2008.
