Why this name?
The reason why we choose the term "DAMNED" is cause it's something very personal to the front-man of the damnedones. And we think it did give us a unique touch blending our music and lyrics as one.
Do you play live?
all our performances are live. the most special moment for us would be when we performed the traditional song "yathi araa" with real Traditional drums.....
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
yah sure....why not.
Band History:
DaMNeD was established by aNdu and SyD, after walking away from their previous band "Dream Sequence". aNdu wanted to re-visit his musical roots, to re-create the songs which he had made for his very first band "XanthiX"
The First Line up of DaMNeD were aNdu (Bass / vocal) SyD (Drums) and Shiya (Guitars) But through out the years DaMNeD’s Line up had constant changes. yet the main driving forces behind the band remained including FaUBe who joined the band late 2004, and the enormous effort by shiya who left the band mid 2007
DaMNeD has always kept their reputation as an original band, plus bringing out a new songs at almost each show that they perform. Their First Major show was “eXposure” followed by “Rock Fest’04”.
Some other shows which DaMNeD headlined are “Battle of the bands” and “Artists for road safely”. And on Dec of 2006 at “LIVE HELP” DaMNeD became the first Maldivian Rock band to fuse rock music with the Maldivian traditional drums “Bodu-Beru” creating an all new sensation of fusion rock.
Some of the recent performances by DaMNeD include “Domination Fest’07”, "Dhunn'gethi vaa" and “Rock Storm – The Audition”.
Yet the biggest performance till date would be taking part in the “Jamming for the Islands”.
