The Carter Trio is one of the gifted young jazz acts in the Washington, D.C. area. The band of brothers consists of Roland Carter, on piano; Rashaan Carter, on bass; and Russell Carter, on drums. Roland Carter is a fifteen year old bop pianist who cites Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, and Red Garland as his top influences. Rashaan Carter is a seventeen year who has played with Gary Thomas, Webster Young, and in concert along side Chris Potter. He cites Paul Chambers, Ray Brown, Dave Holland, and Ron Carter as his influences. Russell Carter is twenty years old and currently attends Howard University as a jazz studies major and drummer and percussionist in their jazz band.
