Third Step Grace is the expression of my gratitude for the second chance I was given. Hopefully, other players will soon join me in giving thanks to God through music.
Do you play live?
Yes, on my church's worship team. I played out for many, many years and enjoyed some of it. At that time my interests were other than spiritually motivated.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I would equate it with how Henry Ford changed the transportation industry. Now everyone can get their music heard by more people than just family, friends and barflies.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'm not sure. Money might be a perseuder, but I'd like to think that wouldn't be the only reason. I'd have to be confident that their distribution and promotion would reach more people than internet sites like SoundClick can. A lot of bands have never been heard from again after signing a multi-year contract with a record label. I heard a story once of a label signing a band just to keep them from competing with their bigger name acts.
Your influences?
I've been influenced, one way or the other, by just about every artist that has had a hit song since the 1950's. My current "sound" is modeled after several of today's hit Christian bands. particularly those with a southern rock/country flavor. Groups like Mercy Me, Third Day, Big Daddy Weave, 33 Miles, Jeremy Camp, etc.
Favorite spot?
Either behind the drums or behind the mixing console.
Equipment used:
Pearl drums, Fender Strat, Art & Lutherie and Brownsville acoustic guitars, Epiphone bass, Cubase 4 for recording
