Welcome and thanks for visiting my Soundclick.com page. In the coming months I plan on using this page as a central repository of sorts for all songs written, performed and recorded by yours truly, so be sure to check back often!
Do you play live?
Rick is currently performing with Back To Blue around the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. A side project with ex-members of the seminal Dallas band Davenport are in the works.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure, if the deal was right.
Band History:
Rick Fontaine (guitars/vocals/synthesizers) was born in 1975 in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. His formative years were spent as an "Army Brat", picking up every year or so to move to another town in another state. By age 10, he had lived in four different U.S. states and spent a year in Germany. On his sixteenth birthday, he received his first guitar- a Travis - one of those guitars "guaranteed not to crack". He took a total of two guitar lessons, cleaning his instructor's toilets as "payment". Needless to say, Rick decided to teach himself. His first real foray into the music business was with Davenport, a band he started along with his high school classmates in Dallas, TX. It would prove to be a pivotal experience. Rick got the "bug", as they say. He knew he finally found something to be passionate about. Davenport ran it's course after 4 years, however, and Rick found himself without a musical outlet. Until, that is, fate brought him to the tiny town of Waxahachie, just south of Dallas. Here he met Eric Jordan, who it turned out, could actually sing and with whom he shared many of the same musical sensibilities. The two wrote songs, formed the band Back To Blue, and released their first E.P., "Forgotten". Four years on, the band is still going strong, having just released their debut full-length CD, "The 13th Day" . Favorite spot?
My studio room in my newly acquired house in Dallas.
Equipment used:
I primarily use a Korg D16 hard disk recorder to record the basic tracks and then dump them to my PC for mixing and post production in Cakewalk Sonar. For drums, I use Sony's Mick Fleetwood Total Drumming ACID loops. For guitars, I use a Fender '72 Deluxe Telecaster, Epiphone Casino, Epiphone Les Paul Junior, Alvarez-Yairi DY45, Alvarez AJ60SC12 12 string, and Epiphone Performer ME. For synth sounds, I use a Roland XP-30. For bass, I call my buddy ;)
