We believe strongly that music should speak for itself, that's why we have made our whole album available for streaming at soundclick. Feel free to listen to it and share your views with us. These recordings are completely self-financed and since fame and buzz are not what we are after, sharing our musical vision with you is all that matters. Should you wish to support the band, you can legally download the tracks from http://www.finmusic.co.uk
Why this name?
The name Ereipia (Greek for ruins) represents the longing and melancholy for the lost grandeur of a past that is not certain to have existed.
Do you play live?
Ereipia doesn't play live currently as its two main members live in different countries. However, we are experienced in a live setting through our other musical activities and we believe that the music we play has a strong potential to move when performed live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
it gives a honest chance to independent artists like ourselves to be heard and evaluated on the basis of the music we play, rather than through press generated 'buzz'.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We would sign a deal with labels that show us that they care about our music in the first place. How 'major' they are is slightly irrelevant.
Band History:
Ereipia is the UK/Finnish project of Andy and Kostas, two musicians who have built their collective experience over many years, creating music and touring with various outfits ranging from ethnic music to operatic styles and extreme metal. Having already exchanged musical ideas in the extreme metal band Pantheist (signed to Firebox records), a band that incorporates elements of classical and sacred music, they developed the desire to transpose these elements into a more reflective, acoustic setting.
Ereipia is an emotional journey through realms of melancholy. However, this journey is not devoid of hope and faith. Crucial to the creation of these musical landscapes are Andy’s powerful, haunting voice and Kostas’ idiosyncratic piano playing. Combined with the sparse emotive arrangements, the timeless and nonconformist music takes the listener to a trip out of time and the earthly existence. Deeply personal and emotional, Ereipia is a cathartic experience to its creators and those listeners who are prepared to delve into their own internal world.
Kostas and Andy are also involved in the acclaimed outfit Crippled Black Phoenix, signed to Geoff Barrow’s (Portishead) Invada Records. Ereipia’s self-titled debut album has been recorded at Geoff Barrow’s State Of Art studio in Bristol and engineered by Stu Matthews. Rik Dowling at Sonic Mastering completed the mastering. Ereipia's second album 'Mercy' is being recorded at Priory Studios and engineered by Greg Chandler.
