‘CoelacanthDance’, (pronounced SEA-la-kanth-Dance) started as a one person studio project of original instrumental compositions by Steve McDonnell playing all instruments: guitars, bass, keyboards and drum programming, plus contributions from 2 other local musicians Todd Bryanton and Don Modderman.
CoelacanthDance isn’t an easy band to pigeonhole, - the music incorporates elements of middle eastern, arabic, R&B, space and progressive rock with ambient, electronica, jazz, funk, world fusion, psychedelia ... like I said, not easily categorized!

Why this name?
About Coelacanths: “One of the more fascinating finned creatures to enter the collective consciousness of popular culture, the prehistoric coelacanth (that’s “SEA-la-kanth”) has ancestral and genetic links to fish and amphibians from the Devonian Period (400-360 million years ago), this fish is a cryptozoologist’s dream come true! Some might say the elusive coelacanth, in spite of its primordial ugliness, has attained rock star status.”
