Tyler Koontz and Kathleen Gaunt make up the heavily orchestrated and upbeat 'Andromeda Passing.' We write and produce trance/pop with some techno undertones. Everything is co-written, with Tyler's arrangements and Kate's lyrics and vocals.

We both attend University of the Arts in Philadelphia for music composition. When we mix Tyler's love for film score and Kate's passion for New Age, we form a unique and feel-good sound that is only Andromeda Passing!

Please follow us into the stars!
Why this name?
We wanted something cosmic and a little ethereal, since many of our songs revolved around spacy synths and far away lyrics. Being an electronica group, we figured something in outerspace would suit our sound well.
Do you play live?
We don't play live since our music is so fully orchestrated with electronic sounds, though it's been attempted. It's hard to get that many synths in one room!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
We believe the internet makes music, videos, etc. endlessly more accessible for anybody who can browse the web. Realistically, music downloads and CD rips have only effected about 2% of CD sales in the US. We believe if people can *get* more music, then they'll *listen* to more music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Absolutely.
Your influences?
Together, we have a total myriad of different influences. Tyler is all about film score, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and some classical composers. He's also a fan of Angel City, DHT, and other Euro techno groups. Kate loves alternative pop, like Alanis Morissette and Nelly Furtado, and also New Age composers like Enya. Japanese music also has a gigantic place in Kate's heart, from bands like FLOW and Orange Range, to singer/songwriters Rie Fu and YUI, to film composers like Yoko Kanno and Yuki Kajiura.

We believe Andromeda Passing is a fun, beautiful and artistic mixture of all of these categories.
