Linear Equation is primarily an indie rock band.
That plays its hand at everything else from dance to blues.
Our original site host was Futurebands.com.
We racked up 5000 hits, over 600 plays and 7 number one songs there, maintaining our number one band status through numerous site resets.
We came to soundclick.com to expand our musical horizon even further...and to increase our fanbase. Not enough songs here? Check out all the ones available to public at www.futurebands.com/members/41

Why this name?
We decided to choose something eccentric, and Linear Equation was a natural choice of sorts. We decided early on to make all sorts of music, and LE was a way to play off that in a way. An example of our diverse sound is the fact that we do both dance tracks and rock.
Do you play live?
Occasionally. We play at various gigs and places. Mostly private gigs of under 50 people to promote our name among our contacts. Highlights include the VI Carnival 2007, the largest carnival in Kuala Lumpur.
We are in the process of organising gigs at proms and the Promtay, a giant event in KL.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
In one word, drastically. A good example of that is Radiohead's move, which ended up with them making more money than lots of other bands. Great stuff, that. The internet allows greater exposure, much greater exposure.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
At this point, I would have to say yes. We'll prefer an indie label though, so our creative ability wouldn't be stifled that much.
We're drastically short of money. We're forced to record everything on a 4track Micro BR.

Band History:
Linear Equation is primarily an indie rock band.
The core members of Linear Equation are:
Wayne : Lead guitars, vocals, minimal keyboard, webmaster, producer, founder
Aiman: Bass, vocals
We have also confirmed a guest artiste, Celine, who plays the piano and sings; listen to her on 'Don't Say', which can be streamed or downloaded from our audio bank for free. Other guest artistes include Lynnett and Evon.
Gustave is now our Audio Technician and Legal Consultant.
So what exactly does Linear Equation sound like?
We model our sound after 4 major influences: Wolfmother (Being pretty much Led Zep+Black Sabbath), Radiohead, Nirvana and Linkin Park. LP has particularly influenced us with their decision to break away and experiment with a satisfying new sound. Radiohead is, of course, a pioneer indie band whose new album is just too sublimely good to be rated. Nirvana serves as an important influence in the sparse, grunge tone that we aim for in several songs.
As an overall, Linear Equation is an indie rock band that dares to experiment and modify our sound, while maintaining our 4 core influences.
Wayne notably blends ripping shredded solos with soulful reverb-ish playing to suit the songs, as is evident in songs such as 'Hide From Yourself' and 'Anarchy Movement' (not listed here). For the upcoming album, Wayne has agreed to cut short on the solos to suit our new, fresh sound and instead focus on providing sweet lead lines to bring our music to the next level.
Aiman has improved on his bass playing with greater versability and occasionally steps up to provide harmonious backing vocal melodies. In fact, several of the new songs feature bass solos that perfectly blend in with the rhythm, providing a thoughtful feel and tone to sparsely written songs. Wayne and Aiman have gelled effectively to churn up promising songs, even with minimal equipment available.
Gustave has, of course, helped out in smoothing out the overall sound and has played an immense role in spreading Linear Equation's name as well as being a major part of our Auditions effort. Gustave is set to play an important part as Audio Tech during our upcoming gruelling gigs.
