My name is Joe Barnes and I'm from Beaumont, Texas. I've written a number of songs over the years, ranging from country to rock.
Why this name?
Obviously, it's not a band name - it's me. 'Nuff said.
Do you play live?
When able, I play live. The area in the Golden Triangle here in Southeast Texas is the venue.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The fact that you can virtually deliver to anyone, anywhere, at anytime, and eliminate the middle man in most cases says it all.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
At this point in my life, I'm not so much looking for a contract. I would rather write and let the younger people do the hard touring, moving, etc.
Your influences?
My influences are wide and numerous, but include Eric Clapton, Johnny Winters, Roy Clark, Jimmy Page, B.B. King and others.
Favorite spot?
Right here at home - Beaumont, Texas.
Equipment used:
My guitars are currently a Paul Reed Smith and Fender Strat. My amps are a Crate Blue Voodoo and a Marshall MG-100DFX. I have various and sundry other stuff, but those are the most important.
