Don Mega is a solo hurricane producing new age electronica mixed with a Hip Hop edge. Down and dirty bedroom production using morphed samples and ecleftic ideas. Don Mega is an enigma, hard to pinpoint and even harder to put down. The music Don Mega produces is on that surreal higher level, with hidden messages, bumping beats, and most of all a respect for the streets.
Why this name?
Don Mega means many things, Don is part of my christian name, it also stands for the Godfather 'Don' (i.e. he who is running this show), a shoutout to Australia's greatest man 'Don Bradman' (i.e. resembling the greatest). Mega is exactly what it means (giant). Together they also pay homage to the GOAT of mc's Ice Cube.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The revolution is beginning, the end of the record lables stranglehold on our music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hell yeah, call me a hyprocrite, but one can achieve greater things with a larger platform. But i would never sell out with crass commercialism.
Band History:
Don Mega has completed one album so far, the electronica hip hop masterpiece known as "The Evil That Men Do', a 60 minute epic of mood and deep feelings, that will paralyse the listener into a higher plane. This album was 4 years in the making, and is the precursor to the evolving revolution in music that will take shape in a 2 CD album called "War And Peace". War & Peace will go to another level that even TETMD couldn't reach. This upcoming album will be pure Hip Hop, and may* even (to be decided) have Don Mega not just ghostwriting lyrics, but also spitting a few heavy mental rhymes. Keep an eye out for this joint. Otherwise enjoy the experience that is "The Evil That Men Do".
