In a crowd, she’d be easy to spot: She’s the one standing slightly apart from the pack, calm, cool, collective, and usually in a deep meditation constantly thinking of numerous ways to better herself as well as others around her. That’s who Ms Mara is.
Born and raised in Georgia, Ms Mara developed a love for poetry at the young tender age of 12. Writing poems became her way of expressing her deepest inner thoughts. Love, pain, heartache, and daily struggles with life, were just a few of the topics covered in different poems that Ms Mara wrote throughout the years.
At the age of 20 Ms Mara started to convert her poetry into song lyrics, with help from a well known local rapper, which was also a close childhood friend. Music for Ms Mara at that time in her life was considered more of a hobby than a career.
A year later in October of 2004, at the age of 21, Ms Mara relocated to Delaware to continue her college education majoring in Behavioral Science and Criminal Justice. In November of 2005 a friend of Ms Mara introduced her to a fellow college student, Juan Carter. Ironically J. Carter happened to be CEO of an independent record label known as Urban Legends Ent.
J. Carter immediately recognized Ms Mara unique talent, and agreed to assist her with any music endeavors. Shortly after meeting J. Carter Ms Mara created her first demo and distributed them all over the east coast. She also started to perform at different venues such as Extreme Night Club, located in Dover, Delaware. In December 2006 Ms Mara drop her first album “Might Die Tonight” and hundreds were sold. The hit single “Shake It” not only received spins in the clubs, but also granted Ms Mara her first radio station interview.
“Can’t Stay” was the second single off of Ms Mara’s “Might Die Tonight” album, and it was proof that not only can Ms Mara get the club bouncing, but she can slow it down and talk about how painful it is trying to mend a broken heart.
Ms Mara has already shown in such little time that she is indeed a force to be reckoned with. Since the success of her fist album she’s been featured on other local artist albums, several mixtapes, and has made several guest appearance at different clubs
“Smack Entertainment Presents Smacktown USA” (Welcome to Delaware Vol. 1) is the latest mixtape Ms Mara has been featured on, by which she’s gracing the cover with Yung Texxus. Ms Mara is definitely a star in the making.
