Hi. My name is Jon Knipp. These songs are a collaboration with a very good long time friend Jack Thompson (AKA "57JACKBRAVES" - also on SoundClick). He's the intrumentalist. I'm the vocalist/vocal arranger (& sometime lyricist) guy.
We've done a variety of music together over the years, & change genre's a bit to keep from getting bored. If you like some of it I'd like to hear from you.
Do you play live?
I did that in another lifetime - it was even my full-time career for over 5 years - but I'm really more of a studio guy. Where else could you sing 3 part harmony with yourself? I did get to meet some exceptional people though. Probably my favorite time was the night the drummer for the Allman Brothers Band sat in with my group for a few sets when I played in Macon. ( I also met James Brown that week!)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Those that weren't around before all that happened probably don't have a clue just how big that is. It is now possible for a huge number of people all over the world to hear what you spent all those hours creating in your basement! That was inconceivable for guys like us just a few years ago. If you put your heart and soul into something like this, you would like a few people to actually hear it and the internet gives us that.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I gave up on the "American Idol" dream long before that particular show first aired. Years ago I would have done it in a hearbeat.
Your influences?
Too many to name. I've been influenced, at least to some degree, by everyone I've ever heard. I just love all shades of mellow rock/blues/ballads and I'm a harmony fanatic.
Favorite spot?
Red Rock Canyon in Nevada.
Maui, Hawaii
