SoundClick artist: My Name - Christian rock, Pop, Contemporary Christian, Christian rap, praise and worship music, original songs

Hi! I've been a Christian for a long time and the Lord has been giving me these beautiful songs for quite a few years. I would just write down the words, put it to a melody, and try really hard to remember what the songs sounded like the next time I went to play them. My Mom and my brother started telling me about SoundClick, but I had no way to record my songs. He told me about his Boss recorder, so I started looking for one on e-Bay. We finally discovered there was a large music store called Guitar Center, in Rochester. We found my own Boss recorder there. With my brother Bill's help, I learned how to use it and put my own songs here. I want to thank God first, then my brother, and our mom, for giving me encouragement and believing that I could do this. My husband is my biggest fan, THANKS, HONEY!!!! I don't believe God wants me to have them all to myself, so I am sharing what He's giving me with all of you. May God bless you!!

Why this name?

The Lord told me what name to use. When I couldn't get anyone else interested, I was going to change the name, but the Lord told me not to. While reading the Bible, I began to notice the many times it says, "My Name", and I realized that's why the Lord chose the name for me.

Do you play live?

Currently I play keyboard on the worship team in our church. I especially enjoyed the time we went to minister at other churches who haven't been blessed with their own worship team. We were welcomed with open arms. It was humbling and touching to realize our church is so blessed!!

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

I think it's awesome that unknown artists can get their music out there for anyone who wants to hear. I was originally recording to a cassette player and just listening to my songs. My brother challenged me to post some on SoundClick, where both he and my mom have their own music posted.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes, if the right offer came along I would certainly sign with a label, as long as I could continue to sing the songs the way the Lord gives them to me.

Band History:

The "band" name was given to me by the Lord. I didn't originally plan to be the singer, but the person I asked never really made a decision to come and work with me. I never planned to do this alone, either, but no one else seemed interested. So, I decided to record a song, and if it sounded terrible, then I would know that I wasn't supposed to sing. I had to adjust the key a little, and not sing so high. This time it sounded better, so I went on from there. I have felt the Lord's presence all along, walking me through the process. It's really been great because I can record whenever I feel inspired to, early in the morning or late at night. I don't have to work around another person's schedule.

Your influences?

I grew up in the 60's, so rock music, then on to Christian Rock. I guess the influence is from that, but I also like different kinds of music. Celtic music is a favorite, and I think it's all reflected in the songs the Lord gives me. He amuses me with His sense of humor by giving me a rap song!!

Favorite spot?

anywhere warm and sunny, as long as my hubby is there and a horse is available to ride.

Equipment used:

I use a beautiful sounding, brand new for Christmas 2010, Yamaha digital grand piano, a Boss BR900CD digital recorder, and I add in my mandolin, violin, electric guitar, or other instruments I find on the keyboard if it adds to the song. The Lord gives me the songs. I have an old upright piano. It is where I go to worship the Lord, and that's when other melodies usually come to me. I trust in My Lord and He gives me the determination to continue singing songs for Him and those He wants me to touch.

I would just like to say that if you are seeking, you can always pray a prayer to the Lord, asking Him to forgive you of your sins. Tell Him you know He is Lord of all, that you want to follow Him for the rest of your life. You can tell Him you believe He is the only Lord, and you will do your best to follow His commandments. Thank Him for reaching out to you. Tell Him you love Him, and believe in Him. Thank Him for what He's done and will continue to do for you.
