Probably as a joke between the four of us, but it was the name that sticked!

Yes we do. In Costa Rica. We have also played in Panama. We have been the supporting act for bands like Sepultura and Fear Factory. We have played most of the big concerts in Costa Rica.

It's a big change from a few years ago. Now you can listen to a lot of music by just sitting in front of the computer. Bands and artists from all over the world, it's amazing. And we also can promote our band to a wider audience.

Insano has been around the stage in Costa Rica for over 7 years, since 2000. Its mix of modern metalcore and old school thrash has evolved over the years -and three releases- to a more melodic approach.
Insano has been the opening band for metal legends A.N.I.M.A.L. from Argentina, Brazil´s metal gods Sepultura in two back-to-back dates and industrial metal innovators Fear Factory. Some of the most important festivals in Costa Rica have been taken by storm by the band´s brutal and dynamic show, one of the best among the local scene according to the specialized press.

This year 2007 the band just released its third CD named "Drain" (FWE), recorded in Costa Rica.


Insano nacio en el 2000, fundada por Rodrigo Chaverri, primer baterista, y Ricardo Hernandez, guitarrista. Posteriormente se incorporan William Magee en la voz y Hans Klowny en el bajo.

El primer trabajo discografico de Insano ve la luz en octubre de ese ano, como un EP de 7 temas con el titulo de “Insano”, y reeditado en el 2001 con dos temas mas.

En mayo del 2001 siguiente la banda participa en el RockFest 2001, en San Jose, y un mes despues realiza un concierto en Panama, junto a los costarricenses de Alastor y bandas panamenas como Antaro y Mortus.

El segundo disco y primer LP, llamado Be Kind to Others...Kill Yourself, es lanzado en noviembre del 2002, acompa..ado de dos videos para los temas Healing Factor y Disco Death.

En el 2002 la banda participa nuevamente en el RockFest y ademas como telonera de la banda argentina A.N.I.M.A.L., en Costa Rica.

A finales del 2003 comienza la grabaci..n del tercer disco, luego de otra exitosa aparicion en el Rock Fest, y en diciembre Insano es invitado a tocar con la banda brasilena Sepultura en dos fechas consecutivas en Planet Mall, San Pedro, Costa Rica.

En el 2005 Rodrigo deja la banda y es sustituido por Mario Portuguez, el disco es terminado e Insano firma un contrato de distribucion con la disquera independiente Freak World Entertaiment (FWE).

En agosto del 2006 la banda es nuevamente designada como telonera de una banda legendaria del metal a nivel mundial, esta vez Fear Factory, en su concierto en San Jose como parte de su gira latinoamericana.

El 19 de abril del 2007 sale a la venta el LP “Drain”, editado por FWE, acompanado de un video para el tema “I´m not god”.

The album has 10 songs including a cover of Metallica's "Leper Messiah". The other 9 are original.
