Minisune
My music is inspired from so many different types of music which I enjoyed during various times of my life. They spring from this emotional journey of life which all of us go through. These emotions turn to words and then to song. I strongly believe that its divine inspiration that leads me to compose my songs in this way.
Why this name?
Manaram is my second name. ( Yes, we Sri Lankans have many names ) It has a musical touch to it and I have always loved that name.
Do you play live?
I love to perform live in front of an audience. I have done so many a times. Several weeks ago a few friends and I performed unplugged at a private function. At present I am preparing for a live appearance on Sri Lankan TV.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Internet has no doubt become the most popular media for the music industry. It is now more powerful than television and radio.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Im in the process of discussing with several record lables in the country.
Band History:
I wrote my first song in 1995. I was still in school and it was a particularly emotional day for me. I needed to express my emotions and somehow only words did not seem enough. Hence, I wrote my first song and I have been hooked ever since.
However, due to financial difficulties, I was not able to produce any of my tracks for almost a decade. It was in 2005 that I started recording my songs professionally at a studio.
To date, I have written nearly 60 songs and composed over 20 melodies. Out of this, a chosen 12 songs are being finalised for my first album in Sri Lanka.
My first song went on air in December 2006. It was a gospel song titled " Jesus " which was recorded both in english and Sinhalese ( my native language ) The second song was released in August 2007 which was a Hip Hop / Bhangra track with a feature done by one of my friends " Hani ".

Your influences?
I have been influenced by so many artists that I can not start to list down all the names. From Classical to Punk Rock, from folk to Hip Hop, I listen to all calibers of music and am equally inspired by all.
Favorite spot?
I have only travelled to a few countries, and I must proudly say that my favourite country still remains as my mother land Sri Lanka. The sceanic beauty of this country never fails to inspire me.
Equipment used:
The guitar is the instrument which is closest to me. I have composed most of my tracks on this and It has never let me down. I often use teh keyboard as well. I can play quite a few instruments including flute, violin, mandolin & many percussion instruments.
Anything else...?
In all my experiments in various types of music, I believe that there is no such thing as Good Music or Bad Music. Music is what people define as "I like to listen to this song / music etc etc". Therefore, music is as unique as each and everyone of us. That is why I don't believe in producing music of just one caliber.
