At the end of 2004 the band FANOE was founded by Klaus Fanoe, Antonio die Giuseppe, Diana Perola and Marco Trachsel. The shared passion for electronic and rock music brought the musicians together from different parts of Switzerland. Since Klaus had already written a huge amount of songs and the recording of the debut album EMPIRE DIRT was already nearly finished, it was clear in which direction the music would go. All band members already had live experiences from previous bands. But it should be the first time that Klaus would climb the stage armed with a microphone and a guitar instead of playing the drums like he usually did.In the Summer of 2005 the debut album EMPIRE DIRT was finally finished. All songs were written and recorded by Klaus in the studio which he shared from the beginning with guitarist Antonio Di Giuseppe. The album has been mixed and mastered by Rainer Ruetimann at Klangfaktur Studio Aarau. Because of the oncoming changeover to digital recordings and the therefore uncertain future of the record industry, FANOE didn’t concentrate too much on getting a record deal. Instead, they decided to do the whole release by themselves. FANOE signed distribution deals with rec rec Medien AG (Dist. Switzerland), Arachnophobia (Dist. Germany) and CD Baby (Dist. digital worldwide). That’s how FANOE became it’s own small indie label. Until today the band members are still doing the management, promotion, booking and all the administration by themselves.From July 2005 till 2006 FANOE promoted the album EMPIRE DIRT by performing live at selected venues, giving interviews to radio stations and magazines. Highlights were the gigs with The Sisters of Mercy and the performance at the Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig Germany, where they played before 2000 resp. 800 people.In 2007 FANOE will release their 2nd album, record a music video and will hopefully also go on tour. Some songs for the new album are already recorded and show that the new Album will be much more complex and define the music of FANOE in a rather and dirty new way.
